The National now measured on NRS

The National, a package of 16 market leading titles, is now on the National Readership Survey (NRS).

The first figures published on the 16th November 2012 by the NRS have revealed that the national has a readership of 3.5 million. Over 1.6 million readers of The National do not read any other paid for national press title with over 1.1 million not reading any other national press title.

Richard Hayes, Trading Director, The National said: “We are delighted that less than 6 months after our launch The National is being measured on the NRS. This gives further credibility to our numbers and means we can talk to national planners and buyers in a currency they are familiar with.

“3.5 million readers with 1.6 million not reading any other paid for national newspaper means we can deliver a huge and engaged local audience on a national scale.”

Launched in May this year, The National says it has exceeded expectations and quickly established itself in the market. Clients have picked up on the new, untapped print audience they can reach using The National. Advertisers who have used the package to date include BT, EBay, British Gas, Boots, Camelot, Monarch, Honda, Vodafone, Channel 4, Argos and BMW.

According to the publishers, the National is the UK’s fourth largest press proposition with 16 daily titles including the Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, Leicester Mercury and the London Evening Standard and has a combined circulation of over 1.5m. The team have made the package simple for advertisers to use with one order, one invoice and one piece of copy.

The National is a collaboration between Northcliffe Media, Trinity Mirror, Johnston Press, the Midland News Association and the London Evening Standard.

16 daily titles are initially included in the core package: Birmingham Mail, Bristol Post, Hull Daily Mail, Leicester Mercury, Liverpool Echo, London Evening Standard, Manchester Evening News, Newcastle Evening, Chronicle, Nottingham Post, South Wales Echo, South Wales Evening Post, Stoke Sentinel, Lancashire Evening Post, Yorkshire Evening Post, West Midlands Express and Star, Sheffield Star.
