The Belfast Telegraph was the biggest winner on the night, being named News Brand of the Year (large), as well as taking home seven other prizes, including the inaugural Best Live Coverage award. Reporter Sam McBride won three individual awards.

The Cambridge Independent was named News Brand of the Year (small) at the event, held at Quaglino’s on 16 April, alongside notable successes for Newsquest’s Charles Thomson – named Crime & Investigative Reporter of the Year and Reporter of the Year (weekly) – and the Manchester Evening News, which won Campaign of the Year for spearheading Awaab’s Law, which led to urgent action to tackle damp and mould in public housing.
