Wilmington publishes Drupal-based website using WoodWing

Switching from a proprietary Web publishing system to Drupal, Wilmington Business Intelligence decided to publish content for its flagship Web site Solicitors Journal from within the same publishing system as for the printed edition – WoodWing Enterprise.

According to WoodWing: With this move, the publishing group benefits from the collaboration and efficiency advantages WoodWing's publishing system offers for modern multi-channel workflows.

Wilmington Business Intelligence is a highly respected provider of specialist information and training for professional business markets in the United Kingdom. Since its launch in 1856, the Solicitors Journal has been regarded by legal professionals as an established and reliable source of information, and it continues to report and provide unique insight into topical issues in an easily digestible and accessible format.

Wilmington voted for a ‘joined-up’ solution that covered print and web and that made it easy to output content to the Web. Today, all content is created and managed using Enterprise, regardless of the channel it´s published to. The experts at Media Systems Ltd, a WoodWing Gold Authorized Solution Partner in the UK, developed a customized publishing connector, adding taxonomy dialogues and control metadata to govern exactly how the content published from within Enterprise is processed in the Drupal CMS.

“The newly implemented workflow yields considerable time and resource savings and enables us to meet the high expectations of our readers – providing in-depth information in a timely manner,” said John Tarry at Wilmington Business Intelligence. “Media Systems Ltd provided us with the experience and support we needed to implement a seamless yet fundamental shift in our business’ content strategy.”

“A key to the success of this project has been the ability to produce, manage and publish content for both print and Web from within the very same system, using WoodWing’s Content Station as the editorial management application. With its versatile multi-channel capabilities, WoodWing´s publishing system qualifies perfectly for such challenges,” said Paul Driscoll, Publishing Director at Media Systems. “With Enterprise in place, Wilmington is well equipped for the future, as further output channels can easily be added as and when the business demands.”

“Many publishers still see the Web as an independent media channel, which is operated by an independent team. Our multi-channel publishing system enables publishers to seamlessly merge their Web publishing activities with other media channels such as print, mobile and tablet,” said Jeroen Sonnemans, Managing Director WoodWing Europe. “The result is not only a significant efficiency gain, but also much better journalistic opportunities.”

With the implementation of the multi-channel workflow at its Solicitors Journal, Wilmington Business Intelligence completed the transition of several of its publications to WoodWing, including Trade & Forfaiting Review, Managing Partner, and Private Client Adviser.
