Rebecca Whittington

Rebecca is the online safety editor for Reach plc, publisher of more than 130 national and regional titles in the UK, Ireland and the US, including The Mirror, The Express, the Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo and more than 60 Live sites. She joined Reach in 2021, in a newly created role – the first of its kind – to tackle the growing problem of journalists coming under attack online. She has previously worked in a number of journalism roles and was course leader for undergraduate journalism at Leeds Trinity University. Her PhD from the University of Leeds analysed digital impacts on news production and brand and journalistic identity at local newspapers in the UK.
