BBC Sky At Night Magazine celebrates 100th issue

BBC Sky at Night Magazine is celebrating its 100th issue with a special collector’s edition.

On sale on 22 August, priced £4.99, the issue will feature a silver foil cover and a 16-page pull-out section detailing the top 100 sights visible in the night sky throughout September and the rest of the year.

Chris Bramley, Editor of BBC Sky at Night Magazine, commented: "Reaching this landmark is a fantastic achievement for everyone associated with the magazine. We have a passion for making the night-sky and the wider Universe accessible to everyone, and we look forward to publishing our next 100 issues."

Other special features in the celebratory issue will include a review of some of the most important space discoveries since the magazine launched in 2005, and an exclusive look at the first step that launched Sir Patrick Moore into a career presenting The Sky at Night, the longest-running TV series in UK history. Plus there’s an article on how BBC Sky at Night Magazine came into being – nearly 50 years after the TV programme.

The iPad edition of the 100th issue will bring readers bonus content including additional galleries packed with dramatic images of space taken by professional telescope and amateur astronomers. Plus there will be videos detailing the key discoveries made in space science in the past decade, interactive 360º models of the telescopes on review, and audio messages from the magazine's writers including Heather Couper and the presenters of The Sky at Night.
