EMAP appoints Fiona Miller

EMAP has appointed Fiona Miller to the newly created role of Conference Director.

Fiona will join EMAP in April 2013, and will be based at Telephone House, EMAP’s new central London offices.

EMAP currently offers customers more than 150 live events a year in Construction and Engineering, Health, Local Government and Retail, including the HSJ Summit and Retail Live. The HSJ Summit each year gathers professionals from across the private and public healthcare communities and provides a forum for open debate and discussion around key challenges faced by those leading, shaping or supplying the NHS and private healthcare. Retail Week Live, 13/14 March 2013 has been shaping the retail agenda for 25 years and attracts over 800 CEOs and senior retail sector delegates, says EMAP.

In her newly created role, Fiona will be responsible for leading the conference business to its next phase of success and working with customers, the editors and brand teams to further develop this fast–growing revenue stream.

Tracey Davies, MD, Retail and Live Events commented: “Fiona is joining at an exciting time for EMAP and our conferences division in particular. EMAP attracted additional subscribers to our products, increased sponsorship from partner companies and more delegates than ever to our events last year. Overall, the business turned around, delivering revenue growth over 2011, while still launching new products and investing significantly in the business. Fiona will also explore innovative ways to serve our customers and ensure our valuable content stays ahead of the market.”

EMAP brands include Retail Week, Architects’ Journal, Construction News, Drapers and Health Service Journal, all delivering content across magazines, online, mobile, awards, conferences and other platforms.

Fiona will join EMAP from LexisNexis where she was Head of Conferences and Training, delivering over 450 events a year. Prior to LexisNexis, Fiona was Executive Conference Manager at EMAP for four years when she headed up over 50% of the then portfolio. She began her conference career as a Conference Producer at Publi-Graphics, part of the Young & Rubicam Group, before spending eight years with Informa.

Fiona Miller, said: “EMAP was the clear standout success story of the industry last year and I am extremely excited to be returning. My focus will be to work closely with customers across all the market-leading brands to realise the full potential of the conference business. I am also really looking forward to working with the talented Conference teams and delivering personal and professional advantage to customers.”
