On the film’s release day (July 21), ESI Media and Warner Brothers resurfaced the original Evening Standard paper from 1940 – the first-time the news hit Londoners regarding the evacuation of Dunkirk.
This sat as a ‘flip-reverse’ paper on the back of the actual paper to maximise interest and impact as Londoners picked up their copy last Friday.
To demonstrate Dunkirk as the cinematic suspense film of the year, and its relevance to audiences today, the old paper is peppered with new film content throughout, say the publishers.
The ‘flip reverse’ paper was handed out by vendors across London, and activity was underpinned by online and social support to raise awareness.
ESI Media was also at PHD offices on Friday afternoon creating a special 1940’s scene whilst handing out the edition of the paper.
