George Chesterton joins the Evening Standard

The Evening Standard says George will join the London newsbrand in September and his role will focus on the ongoing transformation of the Evening Standard brand under recently appointed editor Dylan Jones.

George joins the Evening Standard from The Telegraph, added the publisher, where he was associate managing editor for the past two years, helping its newspapers and magazines pivot to a digital-first strategy.

George has experience in senior roles for national news outlets and magazines. Prior to The Telegraph, George was a managing editor and political editor at GQ where he spent eight years. He began his career at The Independent and then The Guardian as a production editor.

George was shortlisted for PPA Columnist of the Year in 2021.

Dylan Jones, editor-in-chief of the Evening Standard says: "George is a brilliant journalist and editor and joins the Standard at an exciting moment in its history, and will help build the next iteration of London's premium publishing brand."
