Hearst appoints new editor for Prima

Hearst Magazines UK has announced the appointment of Gaby Huddart as Editor of its women’s magazine, Prima.

Gaby (pictured) joins Prima in early June from IPC-owned, Woman&Home, the monthly glossy, where she has held the role of Deputy Editor for the past six years. Gaby replaces Marie Fahey who left the business last year.

Gaby has extensive experience as a multi-platform editor (print and web) and journalist. As well as Deputy Editor at Woman&Home, Gaby acted as Travel Editor, oversaw the Homes section of the magazine and worked closely with the website team. She was also appointed as Executive Editor of Woman&Home’s standalone food title, Dinner Tonight. Prior to joining Woman&Home, she was Editor of Square Meal magazine, restaurant guide and the squaremeal.co.uk website for six years.

During her career, Gaby has also specialised as a food and travel freelance journalist, writing for a variety of publications including the Daily Mail, Guardian, Evening Standard, Independent on Sunday, Sunday Business, High Life and Harper’s & Queen magazine. She also worked as News Editor at Caterer & Hotelkeeper magazine.

At Prima, Gaby will be responsible for the overall editorial direction of the brand and will report into Group Publishing Director, Judith Secombe.  Prima is one of the highest selling women’s magazines in the UK with a very large and loyal subscriber base and substantial readership of more than half a million (552,000), says Hearst. The brand is also known for its successful Prima High Street Fashion Awards, held in London every year.

Hearst Magazines UK Chief Executive, Arnaud de Puyfontaine, says: “Gaby’s previous experience makes her well placed to face the editorial and commercial challenges of producing a multi-platform brand like Prima. Prima remains one of the highest selling women’s magazines in the UK and its Prima High Street Fashion Awards are a huge commercial success. I look forward to working with Gaby and Judith as we continue to grow the brand well beyond the pages of the magazine itself.”

Group Publishing Director, Lifestyle, Judith Secombe says: “We are thrilled that Gaby is joining the Prima team as Editor. Prima is a fantastic brand that has an amazing bond with its readers and strong relationship with advertisers and clients. Gaby will use her skills and experience to lead the team in the next stage of Prima’s development.”

Gaby Huddart says: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Prima with its loyal and passionate readership.  It’s a dream job and I am so looking forward to working with the talented team to develop the brand into the future.”
