The New York Times Company announced last week that Josh Laurito has been named senior vice president, data. The publisher says Josh will have executive oversight for The Times’s data strategy.

Working closely with newsroom, product, engineering, and business leaders, he will build and evolve the data ecosystem that fuels our journalism, powers our products, and underpins our strategic decision-making, says The New York Times. That includes defining a unified data strategy, delivering a robust data platform that serves as the backbone for all products, using machine learning to further goals, and advocating for more democratized access to high‑quality data and insights across the company. Equally important, the publisher continued, he will build and grow world‑class teams — attracting strong talent, developing people, and creating an environment where they can do their best work.

Mr. Laurito joins The Times from Squarespace, where he served as vice president, applied data and insights. There, he led the company’s data strategy across engineering, analytics, and machine learning, delivering critical AI-powered user features and supporting the company’s growth through its public offering.
