Mail Newspapers says: The Mail on Sunday’s sales of 1,497,855 are 28,660 ahead of The Sun on Sunday – the first time that The Mail on Sunday has ever outsold its closest rival publication, since its launch in February 2012. With a record market share of 22.6%, The Mail on Sunday is also the biggest selling national newspaper title on a Sunday, despite a 10p increase in its cover price.
Additionally, Saturday’s Daily Mail’s sales figures of 2,288,857 means that the title has once again outsold Saturday’s Sun by a margin of 118,535.
The weekly title has also enjoyed a record market share throughout May of 23.7%, as the titles continue to go from strength to strength.
These record ABC figures follow the NRS PADD figures released earlier this week which confirmed the Daily Mail as the biggest newsbrand in Britain, with a combined print and digital readership of 30.3 million.
During the week ending 24th May this year, only two Saturday TV programmes generated a higher audience than the Daily Mail’s average Saturday audience for May (4,623,000), underlining the broadcast scale of the paper’s reach.
