New editor appointed for Tatler

Nicholas Coleridge, Managing Director of Condé Nast, has announced Kate Reardon as the new Editor of Tatler. Kate will take up her role in January.

Kate Reardon (pictured) joins Tatler from Vanity Fair where she has been a Contributing Editor for eleven years, as well as producing many admired supplements for the British edition of the magazine. She was Fashion Director of Tatler in the Nineties, and began her career on American Vogue. She has been a columnist for The Times and the Daily Mail and has published two books. In addition, Kate has created the successful women’s community website TopTips.com.

Nicholas Coleridge comments: “I am delighted that Kate is becoming Editor. With her considerable experience, and an innate understanding of the Tatler reader, we look forward to its continued success.”

Kate Reardon adds, “After eleven enormously happy years at the incomparable Vanity Fair I am excited to be joining the talented team at Tatler. I was made Fashion Editor of Tatler when I was 21 and it’s thrilling to return exactly 21 years later. Catherine Ostler has produced a wonderful magazine and I’m delighted to have been appointed Editor.”

Kate succeeds Catherine Ostler who has stepped down from the company, and leaves at the end of the year.

Nicholas Coleridge paid tribute to Catherine: “Over the past two years, she has produced a widely-admired and successful magazine, characterised by enthralling journalism, a string of memorable scoops and a rising circulation. The editions she has put together have been everything I hoped they might be when I appointed her. The 300th Anniversary edition, the biggest in the magazine’s history, epitomised her wit and creative flair. I am glad to say that she will continue to write for Condé Nast titles.”

Catherine said: “I feel it is time for me to move on and find the next big challenge. I am very proud of the magazine that I leave behind. Tatler at its best is a full blast of glamour and excitement. It’s a privilege to have been captain of the rocket.”
