NFRN: no more wet supplies please

Publishers and distributors have been urged to raise their game and take the necessary action to stop the unacceptable delivery of wet newspaper bundles or tote boxes into NFRN members' stores.

In a letter to all national newspaper publishers and major distributors, NFRN news product manager Brian Murphy expressed concern that "progress to the solution in some locations is not being given the priority it deserves."

He continued: "Receiving water damaged product at any time but particularly during periods of heavy and persistent rainfall is working against our efforts to engage our members into selling newspapers and magazines."

He urged publishers and distributors to review their systems and procedures to ensure this issue forms part of their audit checks and he has appealed to members to report all instances when they receive wet and unsellable product.
