Pocketmags launches on iPad

MagazineCloner, the multi-platform digital publishing company, has announced the launch of ‘Pocketmags - the Digital Magazine Newsstand’ as a stand-alone iPad app, now available to download from the App Store in over 90 countries.

Pocketmags.com was first launched as an online newsstand in February 2011 containing MagazineCloner’s branded app clients’ titles. Since then, it has grown rapidly and claims to be Europe’s fastest growing digital magazine newsstand, now offering more than 1,000 titles from publishers around the world and is available on iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, Blackberry Playbook, PC and Mac.

The launch of Pocketmags for iPad ensures that all uploads can go live instantaneously across all digital platforms; particularly useful for titles awaiting iOS approval on branded apps as well as publishers looking for additional distribution on the iPad to benefit from Pocketmags’ loyal user-base, says the company.

The app contains all Pocketmags titles, both replica and custom iPad editions, from well over 100 publishers’ digital magazine portfolios. The app aids ‘discoverability’ via 4 shop sections including:

• Featured - the app’s landing page contains 4 prominent promotional areas plus selected issues for that day (today’s new issues, live best sellers charts, mag of the day, free issues)

• Free issues- the Pocketmags app comes with more than 15 free issues, a great incentive to download and an excellent opportunity for publishers to introduce their brand to new readers. Those in the free issue section have already witnessed strong sell through to additional single issues and subscriptions, says Pocketmags.

Patrick Knight, Strategic Development Director of MagazineCloner commented on the launch: “The Pocketmags iPad app is a hugely important launch in our development strategy. It adds additional, complimentary distribution for all publishers on the magazine-reading device of choice - both for publishers who offer branded apps through MagazineCloner, and those who do not but wish to benefit from the additional platforms and large existing audience. Publishers can go live on iOS instantaneously whilst their branded app awaits review (assuming acceptable content!).

As we continue to increase the benefits of being in Pocketmags we are seeing numerous publishers who already have an iOS branded app presence come aboard for Pocketmags-only distribution (and multi-platform branded apps). With a number of further launches and announcements in the next two months, including the Pocketmags site revamp, we hope to see this trend continue.”
