PPA reveals winners of New Talent Awards 2014

The PPA has unveiled the winners of the 2014 New Talent Awards, a celebration of the rising stars in the consumer magazine and business media sector.

A total of 16 awards were handed out at a glittering ceremony at The Brewery on March 4 across categories covering journalism, sales, marketing, and design.

Dennis Publishing took home a total of three awards on the night, including the Best Media Owner for New Talent.

The Grand Prix category, which is chosen from all of the night’s winners, went to Lucy Thackray of Cedar Communications who won the New Content Strategist of the Year award for her work on British Airways High Life Magazine.

Shortlist Media and Hearst Magazines UK each scooped two awards and the remaining categories were claimed by EMAP, Future, IPC Media, Immediate Media Co, and Ocean Media Group.

In the student categories, open to those studying on PPA-accredited journalism and publishing courses, the Most Promising Student (Postgraduate) went to Ellie Austin from City University London, and the Most Promising Student (Undergraduate) went to Andy Biddulph from the University of Central Lancashire.

Loraine Davies, Director of PPA Careers, said: “Our congratulations go to all the winners of the PPA New Talent Awards 2014 as well as the highly commended entries and those who made it to the shortlist. Today’s consumer magazine and business media brands are evolving at pace, and this event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the individuals, teams and – for the first time this year – the companies that are shaping our future.”
