The Independent has announced two new appointments to senior roles in its team. These hires will enable The Independent to continue to execute its strategy of growing the business by diversifying its revenue streams.
The appointments announced are:
- Meena Miles, advertising operations director. Meena will work with chief revenue officer Andrew Morley and his team to lay down the structures for The Independent to continue its journey of growth. She joins from Mobsta, where she led the operations team for six years, and previously held senior roles at O2 Media and Weve, says the publisher.
- Jordan Scott, head of tech operations. Reporting to Meena Miles, Jordan joins following extensive experience across tech and media startups, and will work to streamline and improve The Independent’s technology systems, and drive innovation together with its partners.
The Independent says the appointments come as they build on last year’s record profit, based on a strategy of generating more revenue from different geographies like the US and Asia, and from new sources, including eCommerce and Independent TV.
By further strengthening the commercial team, the publisher added, the new hires will help The Independent to continue to deliver on this strategy and work with partners to drive the innovation which has defined its success over the years.
Commenting on the appointments, chief revenue officer Andrew Morley said: “I’m delighted to announce the arrival of Meena and Jordan and have no doubt that they will be a transformational force in critical areas of our business. We’ve achieved really impressive and sustained growth in recent years, and key to that has been our ability to stay ahead of the curve and diversify our revenue streams. By bringing this experience into our commercial team, we can lay the groundwork for yet more success to come.”
