Condé Nast to launch e-commerce division

Condé Nast is to launch a new division devoted to e-commerce and has appointed as its President Franck Zayan, who is currently responsible for the e-commerce activities of the Paris-based department store Galeries Lafayette.

Franck Zayan will take up the post January 6, 2014 and will be based in London. He will report to a board of directors consisting of Condé Nast’s top American and international executives: Charles Townsend, CEO of Condé Nast; Robert Sauerberg, President of Condé Nast; Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive of Condé Nast International, and Nicholas Coleridge, President of Condé Nast International.

“The scope of our brands and the revolution in technology are bringing about new opportunities in the e-commerce space. It will be Franck’s responsibility to explore and develop ideas which can serve our readers, users, advertising clients and business partners,” said Jonathan Newhouse.

Franck Zayan has been Internet and E-commerce Director of Galeries Lafayette since 2011. From 2007 to 2011 he operated an e-commerce consulting business, Traffic Garden, and in the period 2004 to 2007 started and operated an online shoe retailer, which he then sold. Previously he held positions at Glowria, an internet DVD rental business, and iPin an online payment platform. He was an executive and board member of AOL France in the 1990s. He received a Bachelor of Science degree at City College in New York in 1988 and studied Computer Science and Systems Architecture at University Paris XI in Orsay, France.
