Conde Nast Traveler to launch in China

Condé Nast Traveler China will be launched in China in March 2013, it was announced yesterday by Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive of Condé Nast International.

Condé Nast International, will partner with Women of China Media, one of the most important journalistic agencies in China, to publish the magazine and create branded digital products. Yan Xiao (pictured) has been appointed Editorial Director of Condé Nast Traveler China, and Ella Wong is named Operation Director, in addition to her corresponding role as the head of operation of GQ. Johnny Pan will be Advertising Director. “Chinese people are travelling as never before, and they hunger for information. Condé Nast Traveler China will fulfill this need,” commented Jonathan Newhouse.

“Condé Nast Traveler China is positioned in the marketplace of China as a balanced mix of leisure interest and elegant living, casual lifestyle and high-end aspiration. Content of the title is tailor made for China’s growing number of culturally refined and affluent individuals, seeking to satisfy their desire to discover and experience the world’s top luxury travel destinations. We hope this magazine will become the ultimate travel companion for affluent Chinese travellers” added Yan Xiao, Editorial Director.

The news was announced simultaneously yesterday at ILTM in Cannes, where the Editors of the various Condé Nast Traveller editions, together with Nicholas Coleridge, President Condé Nast International, were hosting a breakfast for industry clients.

The launch of Condé Nast Traveler China brings to six the number of brands published by Condé Nast International in China, in partnership with Chinese media organisations. The other titles are the Chinese editions of Vogue, Self, Gentlemen’s Quarterly, AD and Modern Bride.

The first edition of Condé Nast Traveler launched in the United States in 1987, and has been the recipient of six National Magazine Awards. The British edition followed in 1997, with Spain, Italy, India, and most recently a Russian edition which launched in 2011. Condé Nast Traveler China will take the number of editions to seven.
