Daily Expresso launches
JJ Anisiobi: “I’m thrilled to be part of this hugely talented team and to bring our loyal audience that Express point-of-view in a different format, looking at the boldest and most bizarre stories we are covering that day.”

The Daily Express yesterday announced it is launching a new daily YouTube chat show taking a look at some of the biggest stories its reporters are working on each day.

The Daily Expresso will be hosted by broadcaster and journalist JJ Anisiobi, Express assistant editor, who previously hosted his own show on TalkTV and is a regular commentator on Channel 5 and GB News.

JJ has worked in current affairs and showbiz across some of the biggest titles in the media, including the Daily Mail, Esquire Middle East and the London Evening Standard and will be starting a regular column in the Daily Express from September 8th.

Each day, The Daily Express says JJ will be joined by a different co-host, with some of the biggest Express voices joining him in the studio - from columnists Carole Malone and Esther McVey, also a Conservative MP, to political commentators such as Belinda de Lucy.

Every week there will also be a guest politician to give their insight into the latest twists and turns in Westminster, as well as leading figures from the world of showbiz and Royal news, continued the publisher.

The Daily Expresso will be filmed in Reach’s studios in its London newsroom and broadcast every day at 5pm on YouTube. Clips of the show will appear on Express social media channels and it will also be available as a podcast via Apple and Spotify.

Once a week, JJ will be joined by Express Associate Editor Sam Lister, previously Express political editor, to discuss comments from viewers and answer any of their questions in an episode that will give a behind the scenes insight into politics and the media.

This year, the Express says it has seen a big rise in its video engagement - its mix of exclusives, breaking news and analysis has attracted 158,000 new subscribers to its YouTube channel and generating more than 100,000,000 total views for its videos, while monthly YouTube revenue has tripled over the course of the year.

Commenting on the Daily Expresso launch, JJ Anisiobi said: “I’m thrilled to be part of this hugely talented team and to bring our loyal audience that Express point-of-view in a different format, looking at the boldest and most bizarre stories we are covering that day.

“Our guests are well known for their straight-talking, so you can expect all of that and more on The Daily Expresso. Having worked so well with Sam back on TalkTV, I’m excited to be reunited with her. Nobody knows the Express audience and the ins and outs of Whitehall better than her.”

Sam Lister said: “Our readers are loyal and engaged and we want to give them the best stories of the day in whichever format they want, so it is hugely exciting to move in this new direction.

“Incisive and opinionated, JJ understands Express readers and will bring in a new audience with his dynamic and high-spirited analysis of the day’s events. He and his guests will get to the heart of the issues of the day in a fun and vibrant way that will leave viewers informed and entertained.

“And we want to put viewers at the heart of the show, so the more we hear from them, the better!”
