Dr Jonathan Paine has been appointed to the Scott Trust board and will also join the Scott Trust Endowment board. He will also become a member of the joint audit committee for the group.
Jonathan was a managing director and senior adviser at Rothschild & Co., where he worked for 25 years as a specialist in the telecoms, media and technology industries. Following a long and successful career in banking, Jonathan returned to academic study and holds a D.Phil from Oxford University.

Dr Jonathan Paine said: “The Scott Trust offers a rare model of global media ownership and one I have long admired. I’m delighted to join the Scott Trust board and that of the Scott Trust Endowment and support their mission to secure the financial and editorial independence of the Guardian in perpetuity.”
Guardian Media Group is wholly owned by The Scott Trust Limited, which it says exists to secure the financial and editorial independence of the Guardian in perpetuity.
The current Scott Trust board members are: Ole Jacob Sunde (chair), Katharine Viner, Tracy Corrigan, David Olusoga, Dr Jonathan Paine, Stuart Proffitt, Matthew Ryder, Vivian Schiller, Russell Scott, Haroon Siddique, Margaret Simons and Stephen Godsell.
The current Scott Trust Endowment board members are: Tracy Corrigan (chair), Jonathan Evans, Chris Hitchen, Dr Jonathan Paine, Gayle Schumacher and Ole Jacob Sunde.
