Egmont signs Generator Rex deal

Egmont Publishing Group has signed a deal in the UK with Turner CN Enterprises to publish content across both print and digital formats based on the popular Cartoon Network series Generator Rex.

The deal will see Egmont publish a comprehensive range that will include character fiction, activity books, annuals, personalised books, children’s magazines and digital formats. Egmont will launch the Generator Rex publishing range in July 2011.

Generator Rex is created by Man of Action group, creators of Ben 10 and also co-writers for X-men Legends. TV statistics following the US launch in April 2010 rank it number 1 in its time slot (kids 2-11 years).

Cartoon Network has a fantastic line up of licensees, including global toy partner Mattel, and video games publisher, Activision.

David Riley, Managing Director of Egmont Publishing Group says, “Generator Rex is a fantastic property full of exciting stories and characters and we are looking forward to translating this wonderful show to print.”

Graham Saltmarsh, UK Licensing Director, Turner CN Enterprises comments, “Generator Rex has launched successfully in the UK and we are delighted to be expanding the show’s franchise with Egmont’s broad and exciting range of publishing products.”

Generator Rex is a cartoon about a 15-year-old boy with the ability to produce machines from his body. He can make his fists the size of boulders, sprout a jet pack out of his back and turn his legs into a lightning fast motorcycle. Rex is enlisted by the Government to stop mutant creatures created by the same science, and as a result he travels the world investigating biological mutations.
