Edinburgh University Press (EUP) says following Sarah McDonald’s promotion into the newly-created role of head of publishing, it is announcing two new deputy heads of editorial roles: Gillian Leslie as the new deputy head of books editorial and Chris Grieves as the new deputy head of journals editorial.
Gillian has been with EUP for 13 years, initially as commissioning editor for Linguistics and Film Studies and most recently publisher for Film Studies list. She had previous experience as publisher at Leckie & Leckie (Harper Collins) and commissioning editor in Psychology for Wiley. Gillian acts as open access lead and chair of the OA Working Group and also co-chairs the ALPSP Open Access Books SIG.
Chris has been with EUP for over 4 years, with portfolio responsibility for over 30 journals as senior journals development editor. He chairs the Accessibility Working Group and has taken the lead on a number of EUP strategic objectives, including the ECR Hub, ECR workshops and the integration/launch of EUP’s online submissions system.
Chris said: “The opportunity to work with Sarah and Gillian to bring the journals and books side of the editorial team closer together is really exciting. I’m looking forward to exploring all of the potential that this restructure could unlock for EUP.”
Gillian said: “I’m delighted to be working with Sarah, Chris and the combined books and journals editorial team to further align our publishing programmes. We are committed to providing an excellent service to our authors across all publishing formats, and our new editorial structure will facilitate this as one of our key priorities.”
