Forbes Launches In Japan

Yesterday marked the launch of Forbes Japan, a monthly magazine published in Japanese aimed at the country's leading CEOs and entrepreneurs.

Forbes Japan is published under a licensing agreement between Forbes Media LLC and Atomixmedia, a Tokyo-based media company founded in 2010.

The launch of Forbes Japan is being celebrated at an official reception today attended by Steve Forbes, Editor-in-Chief and Chairman of Forbes Media LLC, Makoto Takano, Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Japan and CEO of Atomixmedia, along with some 700 guests who are among Japan’s business elite.

Makoto Takano says: “The launch of Forbes Japan comes at a critical time in Japan. The economy is emerging from decades of deflation and regaining confidence. It is getting ready to resume its vital role as a key driver of the global economy. With Forbes being the world’s leading global business brand, and our knowledge of the Japanese market, Forbes Japan will be a great success”.

William Adamopoulos, CEO/Asia, Forbes Media LLC also says: “We are delighted to be partnering with the entrepreneurial team at Atomixmedia to bring Forbes to Japan. Forbes has been a champion of entrepreneurship and free enterprise since its founding in 1917, and as such, Forbes Japan should provide inspiration to the country’s growing community of world class entrepreneurs.”

The cover story of the first issue of Forbes Japan puts the spotlight on how new forms of entrepreneurship powers Japan’s economic engine. The story highlights a venture capital collaboration between businessman Nobuyuki Idei, founder and CEO of Quantum Leaps Corporation and former Chairman and CEO of Sony Corporation, and rising internet star, Jin Nonogami, CEO of Veldt, a company which specializes in inventions such as ‘wearable technologies’.

Forbes Japan will offer feature articles on entrepreneurs, executives, business owners, celebrities and philanthropists who embody Japan’s entrepreneurial spirit, drive the country’s economic growth, and make a difference in Japanese society. Forbes Japan will also have access to Forbes stories from around the world and will feature local content from the Forbes Japan editorial team. The initial circulation for Forbes Japan will be 80,000 per month.
