Launch: Protein Journal

Protein Journal, a new alternate monthly magazine about modern culture, went on sale on 13 September, priced £5.

According to distributors COMAG Specialist: A successful inspiration platform, online publisher, network and agency, Protein has been providing information about the global trends, behaviour and thinking in modern culture for more than 15 years online, with a weekly e-mail supplement and monthly TV channel.

Connecting ideas from around the world with a likeminded audience that shares its fascination with the subject, Protein is interested in the innovators who shape all aspects of modern culture and modern living - the artists, scientists, chefs, designers and academics.

Branching out into print publishing for the first time, Protein Journal will feature the best articles and features from the Protein website, weekly e-mail supplement and monthly TV channel to be an indispensable source of inspiration, ideas and insights about culture.

Featuring art, design, music, style, culture, food, travel, science, technology and more, every issue of Protein Journal will bring together many of the greatest minds to share their thoughts on a particular theme of modern culture or aspect of modern life.

Devoted to ‘The City’, the September issue of Protein Journal will have the thoughts of many influential people from across the globe about cities and the people who live in them.

As part of this feature, the launch issue will include an exclusive with design critic and author Stephen Bayley about the true value of urban living; a photo piece from filmmaker Will Robson-Scott chronicling gang life in Chicago; while the wildly inventive Nelly Ben Hayoun, will discuss his recent ambitious project, NASA’s International Space Orchestra.

In addition to all this, the September issue of Protein Journal will have a 32-page Insight section with an in-depth look into the nature of modern, urban life around the world.

Every issue of Protein Journal will track how global culture is shaping and defining how we all work, live and think, showing how this will affect the reader and the world.
