Rhapsody worked in a collaborative manner with the design and user experience teams at Time Inc.UK to produce the Eating Smart app, an imprint of woman&home that focuses on recipes, tips and advice for those following a “free-from” diet as well as easy midweek meals, entertaining ideas, simple desserts and best-ever baking.
Eating Smart is the first app to be built using ePublish, Rhapsody’s new CMS based digital publishing platform. This gives users the power to create responsive, native apps directly from print Adobe InDesign files. Using ePublish, publishers are able to automate the entire digital publishing process from print to responsive native apps, which can then be viewed across any platform and device, says Rhapsody.
Sue James, Editorial Director, woman&home said: “We chose the ePublish platform due to its flexibility and the collaborative manner which meant that we got the product that we were looking for. Since release the Eating Smart app has exceeded expectations in the Apple Newsstand with high levels of engagement. Our app also reinforces the strength of the women&home brand, this being a successful extension of the brand into the mobile arena.”
John Rahim, Head of Digital, Rhapsody added: “We are delighted that the first app to be launched using ePublish is with Time Inc.UK for their Eating Smart iOS app. We have worked closely with Time Inc.UK over the past year and they were instrumental in the development of the ePublish platform. We look forward to undertaking further projects for them in the future.”
Free in the Apple app store, Eating Smart includes a selection of tasty recipes and has additional bundles of 20 recipes priced at 99p per collection.
