New editor for What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision

Haymarket Consumer Media has appointed Dominic Dawes as editor of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision magazine.

Dawes (pictured) has been associated with the title since 2000, when he joined the magazine as a staff writer. He later went freelance, but continued to regularly contribute to What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision while also working as a musician.

He returned full-time to Haymarket in February 2008 as deputy editor of both the magazine and its website at

Dawes was heavily involved in the June 2008 relaunch of He has also driven the title’s video strategy, which he will continue to do as editor of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision.

Clare Newsome, brand director and editor-in-chief of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, says: “I am delighted to announce Dominic’s appointment as editor. He brings a wealth of industry knowledge, plus bags of ideas and enthusiasm, to the position. I look forward to him heading up our dedicated team of writers and reviewers, and making yet more of our market-leading magazine.”

Dawes succeeds Richard Melville, who is promoted to become editor of the new Haymarket Creative Media division.

According to the publisher, What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision reaches more than one million readers every month through its fast-growing website and family of magazines, which includes the Ultimate Guides series plus nine overseas editions.
