Across 13 years at ITV, Gordon launched Good Morning Britain and politics show Peston, and, among an array of other achievements, directed the ITV primetime leadership debates during the 2019 General Election. Gordon is currently Series Director of both GMB and Peston. He will join News UK Broadcasting at the end of the year.
In his new role, Gordon will lead the creative direction of programming and channel branding across talkTV, including set design, on-screen graphics and sonic branding - as well as managing the studio teams and studio crews. Gordon will also be series director of the new global primetime show fronted by Piers Morgan and shown on FOX Nation in the US and Sky News Australia, as well as talkTV. He will report to News UK Broadcasting Executive Editor, TV, Winnie Dunbar Nelson.
Scott Taunton, CEO of News UK Broadcasting, said: “I am delighted that Erron is joining the News UK Broadcasting team as we build the runway to launch talkTV in the new year. His track record speaks for itself and he will play a pivotal creative role across the channel, as well as on our new global primetime show with Piers.”
Erron Gordon said: “There are very few occasions in your career when you get to create something entirely new. talkTV is one of those opportunities. I’m truly excited about what News UK wants to achieve with the station - and, of course, the opportunity to reunite with Piers on his new global show was impossible to resist. Having directed Piers for countless hours of live breaking news and event television, I’m thrilled to be in his ear again calling the shots.”
Piers Morgan said: “I only want the very best working on my new show and after the five years we spent together on Good Morning Britain, I know Erron is the most talented TV director in the country. So, I’m absolutely delighted he will be joining us on this exciting new challenge.”
News UK will launch talkTV in early 2022. The channel will be streamed live and made widely available on all platforms, including linear TV and OTT, with content available across social media as well as News UK’s own broad inventory of websites and apps. Everyone in the UK will be able to access the channel, live or on-demand, either on their television or on any personal device, says News UK.
talkTV will offer a mix of programming from News UK’s stable of brands. There will be hourly news bulletins, sports and entertainment shows, as well as current affairs, debate, opinion and documentaries.
New format shows will be introduced using talent from its own brands – talkRADIO, talkSPORT, Virgin Radio, Times Radio, The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times.
