Northcliffe appoints Blanche Sainsbury

Blanche Sainsbury has been appointed Managing Director for South West Media Group.

Blanche (pictured) replaces Andrew Blair who steps down from the business. Blanche has worked for Northcliffe for 26 years, the last four as Managing Director of South West Wales Media Group. Prior to moving to Swansea, Blanche held a number of senior roles including Deputy Managing Director in Bristol. She spent her first 13 years in Devon rising through the ranks to become Advertisement Director in 1999.

Andrew Blair, after a successful career with Northcliffe Media, has decided to leave the business. Andrew has worked for Northcliffe Media for 16 years. He began his career at Northcliffe in 1996 in Aberdeen and moved to Gloucestershire in 2005 as Managing Director. In 2010 he joined the South West Media Group and successfully converted both the Torquay and Exeter titles to weeklies.

Rich Mead, Northcliffe Media Executive Director said: “I’d like to thank Andrew for his hard work and commitment during his 16 years with the business. He leaves with our support and best wishes. I look forward to working with Blanche to further develop the South West Media business.”

Andrew Blair said: “I wish Northcliffe the very best and would like to pay special tribute to the great team I leave behind in Devon. The SWMG business is one of the industry’s flagship businesses and I am proud to have played a part in its development.”

Andrew’s last day in the office will be the 27th July 2012. Blanche will assume responsibility alongside her current role, and will move permanently to Devon from 3rd September 2012.

Rosemary Collins Associates will lead the search to appoint Blanche's successor in South West Wales.
