Iain Smith, 35, has most recently worked in strategic technology solution sales in the hospitality sector; more specifically selling into international hotel chains.
Said PCS Managing Director, Phil Walker: “We are encouraged by the interest in Knowledge and we're looking forward to Iain bringing a fresh approach to the business to help capitalise and expand on this initial success.”
He added: “Knowledge is now a mature product, which is advanced enough to serve the specific needs of a number of publishers who each have a markedly different approach to the way they use it to attain their particular publishing goals.
“The Midland News Association, for instance, have taken advantage of the workflow efficiencies Knowledge offers to help reshape their businesses. The MNA, of course, were the commissioning customer for Knowledge, and for them this is an upgrade path that's seen them embrace even newer features within the product.”
He added: “Other groups have focused on different benefits within the product's feature set and we are talking to a number of new customers for whom PCS's ability to help them manage business change is contributing to their confidence in a combined digital and print future.”
But Walker is equally excited by the prospect of completely overhauling PCS's advertising offering into a new, cloud-based product, based on the success of its recently upgraded Self Service product.
PCS, backed by its parent company, the Claverley group, has been recruiting developers to drive through that effort and Walker is expecting a rapid return from the investment.
“We're getting the same buzz of innovation through the business as we did when we set out to create a ground-breaking digital content management and publishing solution,” he said.
“We succeeded then and now we are raising the bar again by developing Sales Knowledge, a best-of-breed advertising system. It's an exciting and important time for the company that will benefit our existing customers and, I'm sure, help create new markets, too.”
