The comment piece comes in advance of the forthcoming announcement of the winner of the £1 million Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering. The prize is awarded almost every two years to celebrate innovation, raise the profile of engineering and inspire young people.
The Duke approached New Scientist’s Editor, Sumit Paul-Choudhury, to write the article in which he recognises and appreciates the contribution which engineers make to our everyday lives.
This isn’t the first time The Duke has written for New Scientist. In 1957 he wrote a letter which was published in their first anniversary edition and he also contributed to New Scientist's twentieth anniversary edition in 1976.
