Now in its fourth of the ongoing series, the day-long live forum will explore the challenges and opportunities facing an increasingly connected world.
This spring's forum will gather more than 300 international business executives, tech innovators and thought leaders hailing from various industries. Featured speakers include Lawrence Lessig, Harvard Law School professor; Joanna Shields, digital adviser to Prime Minister David Cameron; Mark Surman, executive director, Mozilla Foundation; Blair Palmer, Innovation Lab lead at UNICEF; Nathan Eagle, founder and CEO of Jana, among others.
Quartz Editor-at-Large Bobby Ghosh will host the forum and Editor-in-Chief Kevin Delaney will moderate discussions throughout the day, along with Fareed Zakaria of The Atlantic and CNN.
"The forecasted connection of one billion more people to the internet over the next few years is a development with immense significance for business, finance, technology, medicine, politics, education, design, and numerous other fields," said Delaney. "We have obsessively covered this topic since Quartz's launch, and have put together a program for London that will dive deep into the most critical implications."
Quartz launched The Next Billion series in November 2013 in New York and has since expanded the series to Seattle and now overseas. Quartz's events business has produced more than 30 events in 10 different cities around the world. The international expansion of Quartz's events business is indicative of the brand's global growth, says the company.
"The UK is a rapidly growing market for us - consistently in the top 3 countries from which our readers are derived and our office there has quadrupled in size in the past 12 months," said Jay Lauf, Quartz president and publisher. "So, bringing this program to the global business hub of London is a natural development for us.”
Tech City UK is the partner for The Next Billion: London. The organisation works to accelerate the growth of digital businesses across the UK and to create the optimum conditions for growth.
Editorial Intelligence is the content and connections partner for The Next Billion: London. According to the company, it's eiclub is the only networking forum of its kind to bring together people across ages, specialisms and subject areas face-to-face to discuss, debate and connect.
A livestream of the event will be available on qz.com.
