Set in London’s lush Bloomsbury Ballroom and playing out to a packed audience of the industry’s biggest names, Retro Gamer managed to see off stiff competition from games, Edge, Official PlayStation Magazine, PC Zone, Official Nintendo Magazine and PC Gamer to take home the coveted prize, says Imagine.
“I’m truly gob-smacked about this,” said Editor Darran Jones. “We’ve worked incredibly hard this past year to constantly improve Retro Gamer’s quality, and have managed to secure key interviews with the likes of Peter Molyneux, persuaded PC legend Jon Romero to guest edit the magazine, and have always done our best to create innovative and eye-catching covers. Considering who we were up against and the fact that we’re such a niche magazine, we’re delighted to go home with this prestigious award.
“Special thanks to Features Editor, Stuart Hunt, and Senior Designer, Stephen Williams, and not forgetting our many freelancers, our supportive readership, and everyone who voted for us. It really means a lot.”
