Telegraph announces new editorial leadership team

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has announced its senior editorial team across both print and digital.

In an email to all staff, Jason Seiken, Chief Content Officer and Editor-In-Chief, TMG, thanked them for the enthusiastic support he has received since his appointment.

Chris Evans, Editor (The Telegraph Monday-Friday) and Ian MacGregor, Editor (The Telegraph Saturday and Sunday) are now formally confirmed as the Editors of both the weekday and weekend newspapers.

Jason Seiken said: “As I have consistently emphasised, we cannot be great digitally if we are not great in print. Across their many combined years of service at The Telegraph, both Chris and Ian have demonstrated their ability to consistently produce quality newspapers - both will play a critical role in The Telegraph’s digital transformation.”

Kate Day, formerly Social Media and Engagement Editor who has been with The Telegraph since 2007, will become Director of Digital Content. In her new role, Kate will be broadly responsible for digital content and lead a cluster of critical initiatives: Portal, Mobile/iPad, and Interactive.

Ben Clissitt, who joined The Telegraph in 2010 from The Guardian, will become Digital Director, Visual Journalism, responsible for video, pictures and planning. Video has become a major opportunity across multiple fronts including audience acquisition, engagement, storytelling and monetisation.

Richard Ellis, who has led a number of initiatives during the transition period, will take over Operations and Budget across both Print and Digital, becoming Director of Editorial Transformation & Talent.

Dan Hickey joins as General Manager of Lifestyle. Dan has an impressive track record developing revenue-generating channel content most notably as head of digital products at Meredith Corporation, a leading US media company with an audience of more than 90 million women.

Gregg Stewart will take on the new role as Director of Audience Development, responsible for the acquisition, retention and growth of new audiences. Gregg and his team will work closely across all Editorial departments, as well as with the commercial, product, marketing and technology departments. Gregg will be in charge of SEO, Social Media, Newsletters and Partnerships.

TMG has also announced the appointment of three Deputy Editors: Rob Winnett, Mark Skipworth and Liz Hunt.

Jason Seiken commented: “The Telegraph has a history of which to be proud - a great name for quality, first-rate reporting, informative comment and award-winning journalism. The Telegraph is Britain’s best selling quality daily newspaper. We must build on this reputation across all platforms in the digital world, attracting new audiences and new commercial partners.”
