The Sun has announced the promotion of Luke Gough to betting & gaming sales director for The Sun. This comes as the publication says it has grown its revenue and client base within the sector, expanding the Paddy Power partnership in football for a third year running and securing the latest sponsorship deal with Unibet for Sun Originals.
Gough brings industry experience, having previously held key roles at Sky, where he served as creative solutions manager, and at Sports News Television (SNTV) as content and publisher manager. Since joining The Sun, the publisher says he has consistently demonstrated exceptional drive and commercial insight. Initially, his role was sales partner within the betting and gaming sector, where he has quickly established himself as a trusted leader and key contributor to the brand’s success in this space.
Luke Gough, betting and gaming sales director, commented: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to step into this new role. Betting and gaming is one of the most exciting and fast-moving sectors in media, and The Sun is uniquely placed to lead it. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far, from growing key partnerships to securing new deals and I look forward to building on this success.”
Owen Griffiths, commercial revenue director, The Sun, said: “It’s great to now have Luke leading betting and gaming for the business as sales director. He is a credit to the team, and his commercial acumen, strong client relationships, and results-driven approach have been key to partnerships like those with Unibet and Paddy Power. We look forward to seeing him take the business and our partners to new heights in his new role.”
