Hannah Prevett: "Our podcast will cut through the noise to tell the real stories behind the headlines and explore why they matter to all of us."

The Times and The Sunday Times have announced the launch of a new weekly business podcast, The Business, hosted by journalists Hannah Prevett and Dominic O’Connell.

Each week, the publisher says the duo will delve into one important and topical business story, providing listeners with analysis and insight. Joining them will be expert guests, ranging from start-ups to tech titans, market movers to City CEOs, who will share their perspectives on the stories shaping the world of business.

The Times and The Sunday Times say this podcast, sponsored by PwC for the first six months, will uncover the personalities, power plays, boardroom dramas and sheer ambition that drive the world of business, with Hannah and Dominic getting the inside story from the people who are in the room when the deal goes down.

Dominic O’Connell is an award-winning business journalist, prized for his unmatched knowledge of markets and the corporate world, added the publisher. Dominic covers business news for Times Radio, is a columnist for The Times, a former presenter of the Today programme for BBC Radio 4 and business editor of The Sunday Times. From a 1999 interview with a fractious Donald Trump, to conversations with leading CEOs, Dom has broken dozens of big stories and reported on booms, busts and boardroom dramas.

Dominic said: “For years I have been having conversations with top business people to try and work out what is going on behind the scenes. This podcast will give listeners the opportunity to hear those conversations, and understand that chief executives are much like everyone else - trying to do the best job, and with a complex range of motivations and limitations.”

Hannah Prevett is associate business editor of The Sunday Times and an expert voice on the Tech sector, new enterprise and entrepreneurship. Hannah understands the business world inside out, the publisher continued; her contacts include female founders, small business owners and the CEOs of some of the UK’s biggest companies.

Hannah commented: "This is a pivotal moment for business — companies are navigating economic headwinds, political change and the AI revolution. Our podcast will cut through the noise to tell the real stories behind the headlines and explore why they matter to all of us."

Kate Ford, executive producer and deputy head of podcasts, said: “The Times and The Sunday Times are renowned for their in-depth business coverage. With The Business podcast, we're excited to bring that expertise into audio. Hosted by world-class journalists, alongside guests from the front line of business, we'll bring alive the big stories of the day - it'll be essential listening for anyone who wants to stay on top.”

Marco Amitrano, PwC senior partner, said: "As business becomes more complex and technology shapes every part of how we work, quality conversation becomes all the more important. That’s why PwC is delighted to sponsor this podcast, which dives into the big issues that matter most to business today."

Listen to The Business every Thursday starting 9 October wherever you get your podcasts or Friday on YouTube.
