2012 Motor Sport magazine Hall of Fame date announced

Four motor racing ‘greats’ are to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, at the Roundhouse in Camden, on Thursday 16 February 2012.

Motor Sport magazine has announced the publication’s Hall of Fame event for 2012 as taking place on Thursday 16 February at the iconic Roundhouse in Camden. As a prestigious awards evening, honouring the greatest names in motor racing and their contributions to the sport, the event brings together a host of well known personalities.

This exclusive awards ceremony is due to be hosted by television presenter Jake Humphrey, who will be officially inducting four more luminaries into the Motor Sport magazine Hall of Fame on the night.

Held in association with TAG Heuer, the third annual Hall of Fame takes place exactly a month ahead of the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship, starting in mid-March.

Motor Sport magazine’s Editor, Damien Smith, looks forward to celebrating the successes of yet more inspirational figures in the sport; “It is with a huge amount of honour that we pay tribute to the ‘great and the good’ of motor racing at our annual awards, giving recognition to their outstanding achievements.

“Every month we write about the individuals from both the past and present that make motor racing the phenomenal sport that it is. Through this event we try to give something back to them. Last year we welcomed the legendary Sir Jack Brabham OBE, Sir Frank Williams CBE, Jody Scheckter and Dario Franchitti into the Hall of Fame and this year we will be adding another four worthy names to our exclusive line-up.”

Motor Sport magazine’s Hall of Fame event is attended by both current and former drivers and riders. Familiar faces from the Formula One paddock were at the awards in 2011, with personalities such as Christian Horner, Eddie Jordan, John Watson and Karun Chandhok attending on the night. Celebrities were also seen gracing the red carpet outside the Roundhouse, including James Martin, Chris Rea, Nick Mason and Johnnie Walker.
