Attitude – an LGBTQ+ media brand and one of Europe’s best-selling magazines for gay, bisexual and queer men – has announced the launch of Attitude Uncut, an all-new digital magazine that will be published six times a year (between Attitude print issues) and available exclusively on Apple News+ and via the Attitude app. Featuring long-read journalism inspired by themes resonating within the LGBTQ+ community, each issue will provide a deep dive into topics as varied as sexuality, identity, health, relationships and beyond, added Attitude.

The publisher says the first issue – themed ‘Kink’ – is inspired by hit film Pillion, in cinemas from 28th November. Set in the world of fetish, it stars Alexander Skarsgård and former Harry Potter star Harry Melling who, after a chance meeting in a pub, begin a love affair that takes them both on an unexpected journey of self-discovery.

Harry Melling on trans allyship: “What I can talk on is what I feel, which is, I’ve always been for the empowerment of anybody, what they want to be, who they are. That, to me, is the simplest way of empowering people and showing love. If this film can reach as many people as possible who are marginalised, if seeing [the characters] makes them feel hopeful and confident with it, then I’ll be over the moon.”

Harry Melling on Pillion’s sex scenes: “What’s so wonderful about the sex in this movie is it’s always telling a story. It’s not a pause where a sexy moment happens. Every moment of sex propels the narrative: of Collin’s understanding of what love is, of what sex means to him.”

Alexander Skarsgård on Pillion being brat: “It feels incredibly brat. A different definition of brat! […] Tonally they’re very different. My character in The Moment is very different from Ray. And The Moment is definitely unique in its tone. It’s rare to read something that feels surprising. Most things are very derivative. Pillion surprised me a lot, and it was the same with The Moment. Charli and Aidan [Zamiri], the director, have done a terrific job. It’s self-deprecating and fun, a brilliant and fun ride, and a surprising take on a moment after the big hit that was brat.”

Alexander Skarsgård on misconceptions about Pillion’s sex scenes: “It’s not just a pile of bodies, or ‘hey, let’s shoot a crazy orgy scene in the woods. There’s a lot happening. It’s a rich sequence, visually, but also, story. There’s a lot packed into those three minutes, between [Melling’s character] Colin and Jake Shears’s character Kevin, the power play between them. When Ray walks over to Kevin, there’s jealousy there, and coming back to Colin, it’s revengeful. Then his first orgasm. It’s an emotional roller-coaster.”

Alexander Skarsgård on easter eggs about his character Ray’s backstory: “[Colin’s mum] is like: Does he have a secret life? A wife? A husband?’ It was funny planting little hints. The female names tattooed on his chest, little things around the apartment. There are clues. Some of them, I don’t know what the clues are for. It’s still enigmatic. I noticed I kept changing my mind of my version of the backstory. ‘Maybe he has this history.’ But then a week into shooting, ‘Maybe this is how he came into it.’ I didn’t feel the need to decide on one version.”

Speaking about Attitude Uncut, Attitude Editor-in Chief Cliff Joannou said: “Attitude Uncut marks the beginning of a new era for Attitude magazine. As we close an incredible year of growth for the wider Attitude brand across all platforms – print, the Attitude app, attitude.co.uk, socials – we are thrilled to launch a new digital-first little brother title to Attitude’s world-famous print title. Attitude Uncut will dive deep into topics such as sexuality, identity, wellbeing and beyond.

“After the Attitude brand’s most successful year since coming under the ownership of publisher Darren Styles and Stream Publishing, our key tentpole moments continued to shine as the PEUGEOT Attitude PRIDE Awards, supported by British Airways, celebrated its biggest event yet. Meanwhile, the Virgin Atlantic ATTITUDE AWARDS, powered by Jaguar, retained its glory as Europe’s biggest LGBTQ+ awards ceremony. As Attitude prepares for even more exciting plans to come in 2026, Attitude Uncut represents the first step on that bold new road.”

Speaking about Attitude Uncut, Attitude’s Jamie Tabberer, who led on content, said: “The Attitude team are thrilled to be launching the inaugural issue of Attitude Uncut, a new, unfiltered platform for queer culture where celebrities, creators and everyday LGBTQ+ people speak with passion and honesty.

“In this era of digital media bloat and disposability, we are taking a refined, considered, quality-first approach with this title (an offspring that sits aside its print sibling), offering in-depth, long-read, purely original journalism on subjects that matter the most to the LGBTQ community.

“Our sex-positive Kink special is an indication of things to come: edgy, daring and intellectually stimulating content exploring sexuality in a frank and honest way, featuring vital queer voices and sharp cultural commentary. This content is for deep thinkers, queer culture obsessives and real supporters of LGBTQ+ media who want the form to thrive in a punishing media landscape.

“In the issue, as well as interviews with Pillion stars Alexander Skarsgård and ex-Harry Potter actor Harry Melling, we speak to a range of LGBTQ+ kink community members about their lives, as well as psychosexual therapists and artists looking at kink through a queer lens.”
