Auto Trader launches Goodwood app

Auto Trader, sponsor of the Goodwood Moving Motor Show, has designed and built the first ever official Goodwood Festival of Speed mobile app for this year’s event, taking place 28th June to 1st July 2012.

The free-to-download app has a UK-first augmented reality racing game featuring the iconic Goodwood hill climb, and also enables visitors to enjoy unprecedented levels of functionality whilst attending the festival.

The app further supports Auto Trader’s presence at the show where it’s showcasing its heritage and digital expertise as well as helping raise the profile of its new and used car offering. To create excitement about the game and to celebrate 35 years of Auto Trader’s heritage, visitors will also have the chance to win an Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde. Users can practise and play against their friends before and during the event, with trigger markers located in multiple locations around the festival. But in order to compete and have a chance of winning the brand new car they have to play the augmented reality racing game at the specifically assigned track on the Auto Trader stand, thus exposing more visitors to the Auto Trader brand and its digital leadership. The app guides visitors around the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the latest information on timetables and events, and even allows them to create their own bespoke plan of events.

Key features of Auto Trader’s official Goodwood Festival of Speed iPhone app include:

• Augmented reality racing game with support for up to four players across different devices

• News reel updated live by the Goodwood team

• Detailed map of the Goodwood festival

• Live Twitter tracker showing the location of geo-tagged tweets

• Lap time leader board

• Events calendar

• ‘Find my car’ feature

• Compatible on iPhone (3Gs models and above), iPod Touch and iPad (iPad 2 models and above)

• Hidden feature in the ‘About Auto Trader’ page

Nathan Coe, Group Director, Auto Trader said: “The Goodwood Festival of Speed mobile app provides a dynamic events calendar that allows you to build your own itinerary and receive notifications when events are coming up, helping event goers to get the most out of the Goodwood experience

Just over 3,000 people downloaded the Moving Motor Show app last year, but over 3,300 have already downloaded this year’s app and an additional 1,500 people have updated last year’s app. We’re continuing to remain committed to driving consumer awareness of Auto Trader. Last year almost 200,000 passed through the gates at Goodwood, so by giving consumers a great experience we’re creating opportunities for our own dealer customers.”
