BBC Worldwide appoints new CFO

BBC Worldwide has announced that it has appointed Philip Vincent as its Chief Financial Officer.

Philip (pictured) was appointed Acting CFO in June 2010. Previously Philip has served in a number of senior roles at BBC Worldwide including Deputy CFO, Group FD Broadcast & Digital, CFO Global Channels and Head of Corporate Finance.

Philip joined the BBC in 1998 as Financial Planning Manager for BBC Worldwide and News and was previously Financial Controller at Bunzl Disposables Limited. Philip qualified at KPMG working both in London and New York.

Philip will lead the financial team at BBC Worldwide and will be responsible for leading and developing all aspects of BBC Worldwide's financial strategy. In 2009/10, BBC Worldwide delivered a profit of £145m, up 36.5% from the previous year and returned a total of £171m to the BBC through acquisitions and rights. Philip will be tasked with developing the business’ financial strategy against the company’s four strategic priorities of focusing growth outside of the UK, growing digital revenues, making more of our own content and developing more direct connections with consumers.

Philip has been a great asset for the company and has delivered consistently solid financial and strategic judgement. He has been an excellent Acting CFO, and it is right that we now confirm him in this position permanently."

Philip Vincent’s appointment is effective immediately.
