Dave Gedeon: “The collaboration with the Taipei Exchange demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Taiwan’s blooming markets.”

Taipei Exchange (TPEx) and Bloomberg Index Services Limited (BISL) held a joint ceremony last week to mark the signing of a collaboration agreement aimed at advancing the development of index-based products. Hou-Ming Huang, deputy director-general of the Securities and Futures Bureau (SFB); Chien Lih-Chung, chairman of TPEx; Paul Salerno, global head of index sales at Bloomberg, and representatives from various securities investment trust companies attended the ceremony.

Chien Lih-Chung, chairman of TPEx, said: “Bloomberg is recognized worldwide for its knowledge in the financial industry. We would like to express our gratitude to Bloomberg Indices for their insightful decision to partner with the Taipei Exchange. We aim to broaden the scope of Taiwan’s index-based business. We are confident that Bloomberg’s expertise of global ETF markets, developed over many years, will bring new energy to Taiwan’s securities markets.”

“The collaboration with the Taipei Exchange demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Taiwan’s blooming markets,” said Dave Gedeon, CEO of Bloomberg Index Services Limited. “We are delighted to draw on Bloomberg’s expertise and technological advantages to help accelerate the launch process of index-based products, contribute to the development of local markets, and create index offerings that meet the diverse needs of investors.”

Hou-Ming Huang, deputy director-general of the SFB, said: “After planning to introduce ‘Active and Multi-Asset ETFs’ last year, the Taipei Exchange has been proactive in revising related regulations and trading systems, as well as promoting the initiative. Additionally, the first multi-asset ETF in the Taiwan stock market was approved yesterday, marking a significant achievement for the Taipei Exchange.”

Following the signing of the co-branded indices service agreement, TPEx and BISL say they will initiate discussions with potential issuers to plan new index-based products. According to Bloomberg, the goal is to launch co-branded index-based products as soon as possible, further enhancing the ecosystem of index-based products in the Taipei Exchange market.
