According to the FT, the new newsletter will give readers the inside track on the most important stories and trends in British politics and policy. Launched yesterday, it will cover the personal struggles for power as well as the ins and outs of policy implementation.
Inside Politics will be sent to subscribers every weekday morning, arriving in inboxes for 9.30am UK time. It will feature, say the publishers, Bush’s trademark wit and personality, together with his personal take on what’s happening behind the scenes in Westminster and beyond. The newsletter will also showcase the best of the FT’s politics journalism.
Stephen Bush said: “Inside Politics is your essential weekday guide to power, policy and public opinion in the UK, keeping you up to date with the FT’s award-winning politics and policy coverage and providing fresh insight and intelligence into everything that matters across political and policy debates.”
Bush joined the FT in March after seven years at the New Statesman, most recently as political editor. He also wrote their politics newsletter, Morning Call. In 2017 Bush was named the Political Studies Association’s Journalist of the Year and he is also a former political writer in residence at the University of Sussex.
Sarah Ebner, head of newsletters at the FT said: “Our newsletters play a vital role when it comes to increasing engagement and building loyalty with our readers and I'm delighted to be adding Inside Politics to our roster. Stephen has a distinctive voice, and writes with not just wit, but real insight. His newsletter is sure to become a must-read for anyone keen to understand what's going on in UK politics today - and in the future.”
Inside Politics will replace the FT’s current UK politics newsletter. The newsletter is available to FT subscribers. Yesterday’s first edition is free to read for all users, here.
