Haymarket to sponsor PTC New Talent Awards

Haymarket Media is sponsoring a new award as part of its commitment to encourage fresh talent within the media industry.

The PTC (Periodical Training Council) New Talent Awards are aimed at promoting, rewarding and celebrating excellence by recognising the brightest new stars in the magazine and business media industry.

Haymarket is sponsoring the New Consumer Specialist/Customer Journalist of the Year Award category and winners will be revealed at a black tie event hosted by TV personality, comedian and presenter, Alun Cochrane on 1 February in East London.

The awards are organised by the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) – the body representing more than 200 media companies in the country.

Other categories include Most Promising Student of the Year, both undergraduate and postgraduate.

The PTC is a branch of the PPA that set the standards for journalism training around the country in higher education.

Haymarket’s Consumer Media’s editorial director Mark Payton, one of the judges at the awards and a member of the PTC board, said: “We are really proud to be supporting the awards this year by recognising and rewarding future talent in journalism.

“Media companies like Haymarket have a great interest in what the PTC does - it is ultimately responsible for the calibre of graduate journalists entering the industry.”
