Launched by founding editor Diana Zeuner in 1987, Heavy Horse World focused on purely heavy and working horse breeds, reaching a global audience and establishing itself firmly as the go-to ‘trade’ publication for those working in the heavy horse sector, says MediaFund.
“I am pleased to say that, after 33 years producing the magazine, and after a process completed during these challenging times of Coronavirus lockdown, Heavy Horse World will continue under new ownership at Oaklands Equestrian – with Fiona Ford serving as editor and publisher.” said Diana Zeuner. “It has been an honour to have served the heavy horse sector through the magazine, and I would like to thank everyone from readers to contributors for their support over the years. I wish Fiona all the best in her new venture and a successful fresh life for Heavy Horse World.”
Fiona runs her own equestrian business from her farm on the Essex/Suffolk border and is an active member of the show scene with her Shires and Clydesdales. In 2019 she was a key member of the team responsible for the first British Heavy Horse Grassroots Championship designed to encourage newcomers in heavy horse ownership to give showing a try. With a solid background in editorial and promotion gained through running marketing departments for large companies in the City for many years, the magazine will be in safe hands, says MediaFund.
Fiona says: “I’ve been an avid reader of the magazine for many years and have thoroughly enjoyed reading the varied content. To be able to take over the reins from Diana is an exciting prospect and one that I am very much looking forward to.”
Victoria Clayton, Secretary of the Shire Horse Society said she was sure the magazine would flourish under Fiona’s leadership: “I wish Fiona well with her new venture. Heavy Horse World is very well respected; Diana Zeuner… has made the magazine a must read. I am sure that Fiona will grow the magazine and its readership, I look forward to working with her going forward.”
Diana Zeuner said: “MediaFund has been extremely helpful in assisting the sale process and attentive to the detail, including meeting the deadline I had given them for completion, a vital component in any procedure associated with magazines!”
