whynow Media has announced the acquisition of the assets of the videogame magazine Wireframe from Raspberry Pi. The editor of Wireframe, Ryan Lambie, will be joining the whynow team as part of the acquisition.

Wireframe magazine is a monthly magazine that lifts the lid on video games. It was launched in November 2018 by Raspberry Pi. The 70th issue of the magazine was published in January, and was the last print edition that will go out.

whynow Media started as a digital magazine, whynow.co.uk, founded by Gabriel Jagger in 2019. The ethos of the brand, added the publisher, is to champion the good in the world, with a particular focus on the arts, including film, TV, music and theatre.

Since its inception the company has expanded into podcasting, TV production and music merchandising. It has also invested in Film Stories, Overtune and Pirate and acquired other brands including most recently Great Big Story from CNN.

The acquisition of Wireframe, and the expertise that Lambie brings with him will enable whynow to expand its coverage of this important part of the entertainment world, and allow readers to get all their news about the entertainment industry in one place, expanded the publisher.

Gabriel Jagger, founder and CEO of whynow said: “whynow.co.uk covers a broad section of the arts, but gaming is one area that we haven’t been able to dedicate enough time to cover properly. With the acquisition of Wireframe, and Ryan Lambie joining the team, we’ll now be able to bring fans of gaming the best content and up to date news so that our readers can find all the content they want in one place.”

Ryan Lambie, editor of Wireframe said: “I’m excited to be joining the team at whynow, and to be working on the new gaming venture with them. I’ve been a fan of the brand and the work it’s doing to champion the arts for a while, so having the opportunity to join them and work on something new is a great way to begin 2023.”

Lambie and the whynow team are working on a new gaming venture together, which will be launching soon.
