Johnston Press bolsters digital & commercial teams

Johnston Press is expanding its digital and commercial sales teams with the appointments of new senior members across the UK and Northern Ireland.

Drew Carmichael has been appointed sales director for Scotland, bringing a wealth of experience from a number of former senior management roles. Drew, who officially begins in his new position this week, will play a critical role working with the Scottish sales team, ultimately driving Johnston Press’ transformational sales strategy. He joins Johnston Press from Lyreco, where he was the strategic and international director.

Drew’s appointment follows a host of other new senior hires in recent weeks, further expanding the digital and commercial sales teams and reflecting Johnston Press’ continued investment across the group, says the company.

Brian Commins joined the Johnston Press team in late August, joining as new sales director for Northern Ireland, bringing with him significant experience from a number of senior management positions, including sponsorship and promotions director at Virgin Radio and managing director at CityBeat Radio.

Andrew Bibby also joined the business, as new group digital sales strategy director based in London, a role that will see him work with all vertical team heads, the product development team and the marketing team. With the ambition of realising the full potential of Johnston Press’ online audience, Andrew will take overall responsibility for its digital sales strategy.

Also new to the Johnston Press sales team is Russell Kenyon, who becomes group digital sales director taking responsibility for selling Johnston Press’ digital solutions. Formerly head of group sales at Fuel Card Services and VP of sales at LivingSocial, Russell will lead and further develop this area of the business, accelerating revenue growth from Johnston Press’ full range of online products.

John Bills, Group MD at Johnston said: “I’m thrilled to welcome each and every one of our new hires to the Johnston Press team, marking our continued investment in reengineering our sales force further improving our customer focused approach and further expanding our digital offering, in terms of the products we deliver and also the audiences we reach, both loyal and new. Each new member will play a crucial role in further driving our transformational sales strategy at such an exciting time for the business.”
