LUXX returns to The Times, with Jeremy Langmead at the helm

The Times has announced the return of LUXX, a luxury, glossy magazine with four editions a year, with Jeremy Langmead as its editor-in-chief.

Launching on Saturday December 3 2016, LUXX will provide the most affluent readers of The Times with a revamped offering to ensure that they stay well-informed about the best products, services and innovations available in the luxury market.

The Times and The Sunday Times have an informed, influential and discerning readership of 607,000 AB adults, and reach more households earning £150,000 than any other newspaper, say the publishers.

LUXX recognises that its role is to go beyond the traditional arena of high value products to encompass an ever-expanding world of experiences - travel, arts and culture, architecture, interiors, exploration, fitness, wellbeing and giving.

LUXX will aim to reflect a younger, more metropolitan reader. It will differentiate itself from the competition by identifying closely with these mobile, urban, highly aspirational, professionals and by paying particular attention to the affluent, successful female earner.

A former editor of British men's magazine Esquire and Wallpaper*, Jeremy Langmead has a strong reputation for innovative ideas and sharp social trend analysis. In a career spanning 20 years Langmead launched The Sunday Times Style magazine, was Life & Style Editor of The Evening Standard and chief content officer at Christie's. He will remain as Brand & Content Director at MR PORTER which he helped launch nearly six years ago.

The debut issue of LUXX, published in December, will have a seasonal flavour, with an emphasis on gifts. It will also look into the movers and shakers who bring this time of year to life, as well as the industries and personalities who inspire us to give, buy, travel and learn. The idea is to entertain and inform The Times reader whether he/she chooses to embrace or escape the holiday season. Throughout 2017 LUXX will also publish a series of special reports, written in collaboration with lead contributors in fields including technology, property and men's fashion.

News UK CEO, Rebekah Brooks, said: "We're proud of the affluent and influential audience that The Times and The Sunday Times have. The decision to bring back LUXX to The Times addresses the needs of our most affluent readers. We know that our readers believe it is worth paying for quality, and they trust us to keep them informed on all matters of luxury with the same integrity, authority and sound judgment as Times journalism."

Emma Tucker, deputy editor of The Times, said: "We are delighted to welcome Jeremy to The Times to launch this terrific new addition to our successful Saturday newspaper. LUXX is a byword for sophistication, elegance and forward-thinking metropolitan tastes. Jeremy has a brilliant track record as a connoisseur in this area and we look forward to developing his vision across our print and digital editions."

Jeremy Langmead, LUXX editor-in-chief, said: "The allure of creating something new for a brand like The Times, with the far-reaching and sophisticated readership it brings, that covers all the areas I've spent the last 20 years working with, and in, was too tempting to resist. I very much look forward to working with the teams at The Times to create a product that is intelligent and enticing and understands both the luxury market and its consumer."
