The event followed the 2016 PPA Retail Forum, and was attended by leading figures from publishing, retail and the magazine supply chain.
Waitrose was named Multiple Magazine Retailer of the Year (over 500 stores) for an impressive third year in succession, and buyer Kate Rider was also named Magazine Category Champion of the Year.
The judges said Waitrose "demonstrated their commitment through a range of successful initiatives in-store and by taking a collaborative approach to working with industry partners".
Morrisons and Tesco were also winners, and Egmont, Immediate Media and The Economist won in the publisher categories.
David Cooke from Menzies Distribution, who sadly passed away in November 2015, was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Magazine Retailing award, which was accepted by his widow Eleanor.
David was described in a citation delivered at the event by PPA CEO Barry McIlheney as "tireless in championing the magazine category" and "the embodiment of what can be achieved through collaborative working".
