The Mail says its collection of TikTok accounts has passed 20 million followers after a few months of growth.

Whilst the publisher claims it was already the top news publisher on TikTok, the publisher says the main Daily Mail news page has also now become the number one news account on the social media platform, overtaking Dylan Page as the most followed channel, with 14.1 million followers.

According to The Mail, it saw almost two million new followers in September and half a million added in the first 36 hours of October.

The Mail added that its TikTok team also earned 5.3 billion views in September across all the accounts, more than double the previous monthly high of 2.5 billion.

Videos on the Mail’s portfolio of accounts – which includes Sport, UK, Royals, Australia, Showbiz and Crime – have now been viewed more than 19 billion times in 2024 so far, the publisher continued.

With nearly a quarter of 18-24 year olds across the world getting their news from TikTok, the Mail’s range of content has the attention of a new generation of viewers.

Daily Mail editor-in-chief, Ted Verity said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a huge tribute to the team globally.

“They work tirelessly to create content around the clock, bringing our trusted brand of seriously popular Daily Mail journalism to an entirely new audience.”

MailOnline head of social video, Phil Harvey added: “Daily Mail’s exceptional growth on TikTok is a testament to the power of the brand to cut through on any platform.

“In 18 months, we have quadrupled our total followers thanks to the hard work and dedication of a driven team of content creators and journalists across the global newsroom.”
