Manor Creative invests in digital press

East Sussex-based design and print specialist, Manor Creative, has expanded with two new divisions, Manor Digital and Manor Creative Office Supplies. Its expansion is supported by investment in a Xerox iGen4 digital press to provide Manor Digital’s new print-on-demand service.

“Whilst retaining our existing sheet-fed litho facility to meet individual clients’ needs,” explains Graham Brownett, Manor Creative’s CEO, “it is vital for us as a company to adapt to the ever changing marketplace. This new high-speed, digital colour press is the right technology to launch our entry into the print-on-demand market. One of the new press’s advantages is its ability to personalise printed material. It also enables faster turnaround times, increased productivity and shorter print runs resulting in less wastage.”

Designed to help printers reduce their environmental footprint, the press uses dry inks that are non-toxic and minimise waste. More than 97 per cent of its components are recyclable and short print runs reduce the need for stockpiling.

With its commitment to helping its clients and suppliers to combat climate change by reducing waste and conserving natural resources, the press’s eco-friendly features were critical to Manor Creative’s purchasing decision.

The press has the largest sheet size (364mm x 571mm) of any digital colour press and runs at 110 pages per minute. Its inline spectrophotometer automates colour consistency to deliver superior image quality and spot colour accuracy.

Peter Taylor, Director, Production and Graphic Communications, Xerox UK, says:  “Manor Creative’s investment in this new digital press will not only enable it to expand its business into new areas, such as print-on-demand, but also reinforces its commitment to minimise its environmental impact as a print provider.”

Manor Creative’s two new business streams have already benefited the local economy. The company’s appointment of a new manager, machine operator and sales team for Manor Digital, as well as staff for its new office stationery division, has increased its local workforce by eight people.
