News UK appoints Chief Technology Officer

News UK has announced that Christina Scott is leaving the Financial Times to run the corporate IT, Technology and digital development teams at News UK.

Scott will join the business as Chief Technology Officer in the New Year.

Before the FT, she worked in technology at the BBC, ITV Digital and Accenture.

She was ranked third in the CIO 100 last year – an annual list recognising the most transformative CIOs in the UK business economy, topping the media, leisure and entertainment category. She was the only woman to be ranked in the top 20, says News UK.

News UK’s CEO, Rebekah Brooks, has described her appointment as “a coup”, adding: “I’ve no doubt she will be a key player in our mission to renew the way we do business here and harness the vast potential of the digital world to ensure sustainable success for our journalism.”

Christina will report directly to the CEO, alongside Sarah Wood of Unruly, COO David Dinsmore, CFO Chris Longcroft and the Editors, Tony Gallagher, John Witherow and Martin Ivens.
